Status: parked by the operator (2026-10-06). Nobody contacts Commet about this until the operator picks it up.

The question

Commet's CONTRIBUTING.md prohibits generative-AI use: no LLM-written code, docs, issues or comments, and maintainers may close such issues or block repeat posters. Vommet is openly AI-assisted. Several bugs we found and fixed also affect Commet. Would the maintainers want a human-written report (the operator's own words, noting that the investigation was AI-assisted), or would they rather not get those?

The operator would ask them directly, in their own words, before filing anything. If the answer is no, these fixes stay Vommet-only.

Findings that also apply to Commet (as of 2026-10-06)

Cached full-size images ignored after restart: MatrixMxcImage never overrides hasCachedFullres, so a cached thumbnail wins and stays (blurry space banners). Fixed on fix/image-fullres-cache.
Startup database burst: every MatrixRoom/MatrixSpace calls postLoad() in its constructor. On a 231-room account the queries average ~5 s each in the queue, delaying room names, avatars and the first sync. Fixed on perf/startup-postload-queue.
Blurry stickers in the picker on phones: every emoticon is decoded at 100 px. Fixed on fix/sticker-picker-resolution.
Deleted last message in the room list: it shows "Unknown Event Type: m.room.message", and the deleted text stays until a restart. Fixed on fix/room-preview-deleted.
Endless-spinner call tiles for late joiners: a stream's type is "video" before its track is subscribed. Fixed on fix/voip-late-joiner-tiles.
Accepted DM invites become "groups": MatrixInvitationComponent.acceptInvitation calls the raw joinRoom instead of the SDK's Room.join(), so m.direct is never written for is_direct invites. Fixed on fix/accept-dm-invite.
Banner thumbnails cropped to a square: non-event thumbnails are requested at 90×90 with no method. Fixed on fix/banner-thumbnail-scale.
Home screen builds every room row at startup (shrink-wrapped lists), one Get user query each. Fixed on perf/lazy-home-room-list.
(unconfirmed) Android "Unable to fetch room event for notification": MatrixBackgroundRoom.getEvent returns null for anything other than text messages (#41).

Add new findings here as they come up.
