Capture of Fox's thinking (2026-07-11), so it does not get lost:

The mission framing. Nether exists to help people build community infrastructure in three things: services, knowledge, and community. The main page should eventually be reworked around this — the current Services/Projects lists undersell it.

Matrix-side offerings to document (partially added to /matrix/ in PR #1; expand as it firms up):

  • Hosted nether-voicebridge instances — we are the only ones offering a voice bridge between Matrix and Discord at all. This is a service we host for people, not just a repo.
  • Hands-on bridge setup help — we will personally help someone set up text bridges to Discord, Telegram, IRC, Signal, etc., so they can encourage their community to try Matrix without leaving anyone behind.

Open questions: where the full services page lives (main page section vs. dedicated page), how joining/receiving these services works (same mod-contact vectors as /matrix/joining/?), and the knowledge/community legs of the framing.

Related: PR #1 (Matrix doc tree), which adds a first mention of these under /matrix/.
