Why

On Discord, every voice channel shows a small chat-bubble icon; one click opens its text chat. In Commet the text side of a voice room is only reachable through right-click → "Open as Text Chat", which most people never find. People also post links and messages in voice rooms during calls, so the chat needs to be one click away.

What exists

Clicking a voice room opens the call view; RoomTextButton.createRoomContextMenuItems (commet/lib/ui/atoms/room_text_button.dart) offers "Open as Text Chat" for any room.isSpecialRoomType (voice rooms, photo albums, calendars).
That entry calls EventBus.doOpenRoom(..., bypassSpecialRoomType: true), and the main page already tracks showAsTextRoom — so the plumbing exists; only a visible control is missing.

Plan

Chat-bubble icon on the room entry for special room types: shown on hover on desktop and always on mobile, like Discord. Click opens the text chat (bypassSpecialRoomType: true).
Unread indicator on that icon when the room has unread text messages, so you notice chat in a voice room without opening it.
A "Chat" button in the voice room's call view to switch to the text chat and back, without going through the sidebar.
Same for photo-album and calendar rooms, since they share the mechanism.

Acceptance

Hovering a voice room in the sidebar shows a chat icon; clicking it opens the room's text timeline; unread messages show a dot on the icon; from the call view one button switches to chat and back.
