    Testing build. Expect rough edges. Vommet is an LLM-assisted fork of Commet. Please report problems on this repo's issue tracker, never on Commet's.

    Built from the testing branch at commit bad5433. The Linux and Android files are the ones CI built and tested for this exact commit. Their build label reads sync/testing.…, because they were built while the commit was the sync candidate.

    New since testing-2026-10-06

    • Faster startup on big accounts. Rooms and spaces load their details one at a time (spaces first) instead of all at once, which made every database query wait several seconds on a 200+ room account. Startup timings are recorded under Settings › Developer › Diagnostics.
    • Deleted messages in the room list now read "Message deleted" straight away, instead of "Unknown Event Type", or the deleted text lingering until a restart.
    • Picture mosaics work. Several pictures posted together now group into a mosaic. They never did in real rooms before. (#11)
    • Sharper images: stickers in the picker are no longer blurry on phones, and images use the cached full-size version after a restart instead of a blurry thumbnail (e.g. space banners).
    • Broken or missing images (a deleted avatar or banner, a corrupt file) no longer cause an error. (#58)
    • Calls: someone joining late no longer shows as an endless spinner tile.

    Everything from earlier tester builds is still included.

    Install

    Linux (Flatpak, x86_64)

    flatpak install --user ./vommet-testing-x86_64.flatpak
flatpak run im.nether.chat

    Installing over the previous build updates it.

    Android (arm64): download vommet-testing-arm64.apk and open it. It installs as an update.

    Windows (x64): download vommet-testing-windows-x64.zip, unzip it anywhere, and run Release\vommet.exe. It's a portable zip, not an installer, and isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen warns the first time: choose "More info", then "Run anyway". Built from the same commit on GitHub's Windows runners; its build label reads ci/windows-testing.6.

    Known limits

    • Built and tested by CI (build, unit tests, APK); not hand-tested yet.
    • GIF search returns an error until the proxy gets a Klipy key (#12).
    • Sliding sync (Settings › Experiments) is experimental.
