    ⚠️ Don't install this build: it crashes at launch on every platform (a startup bug introduced with the splash-screen change). A fixed tester release follows shortly; use testing-2026-10-06b until then.

    Testing build. Expect rough edges. Vommet is an LLM-assisted fork of Commet. Please report problems on this repo's issue tracker, never on Commet's.

    Built from the testing branch at commit 9c1ea9d. The Linux and Android files are the ones CI built and tested for this exact commit (build, unit and integration tests passed).

    New since testing-2026-10-07b

    • Noise suppression (experiment, #3): Settings › Experiments › Noise suppression, off by default. Filters background noise from your microphone in calls, the way Discord does.
    • Native OIDC sign-in (#45): on servers that use OIDC (like nether.im with its account service), sign-in now runs as a proper OIDC flow in your browser and comes back to the app.
    • Faster startup, round three: the Direct Messages, favourites and single-room lists also build only the rows you can see. On a 300-room account that cut startup database lookups from 64 to 21, and the room list appeared in under a second.
    • Diagnostics now include capture events (only if you opted in): whether your mic, camera or screen share started, how long it took, and the device type (built-in, USB, Bluetooth…), never its name.

    Everything from earlier tester builds is still included, including screen share with sound on Linux.

    Install

    Linux (Flatpak, x86_64)

    flatpak install --user ./vommet-testing-x86_64.flatpak
flatpak run im.nether.chat

    Android (arm64): download vommet-testing-arm64.apk and open it. It installs as an update.

    Windows (x64): download vommet-testing-windows-x64.zip, unzip it anywhere, and run Release\\vommet.exe. Not code-signed yet: SmartScreen warns the first time ("More info", then "Run anyway"). Built from the same commit on GitHub's Windows runners.

    Known limits

    • Built and tested by CI; not hand-tested yet. Noise suppression and OIDC sign-in are new: please report how they behave.
    • GIF search returns an error until the proxy gets a Klipy key (#12).
