    Testing build. Expect rough edges. Vommet is an LLM-assisted fork of Commet. Please report problems on this repo's issue tracker, never on Commet's.

    Built from the testing branch at commit 0279f4f. The Linux and Android files are the ones CI built and tested for this exact commit; the Windows zip was built from the same commit on GitHub's Windows runners.

    New: the app now shows this release's name. Settings › About and the sign-in footer say testing-2026-10-08 (build number), so you can tell at a glance which release you're on.

    Fixes

    • Notifications (Android): Vommet now lists the UnifiedPush apps on your phone (ntfy, Sunup, …), shows which one it uses and lets you change it, and tells you if none is installed. Before, it could silently stop offering them.
    • Your profile card (click your name) shows your banner and your current status instead of a plain colour and "Set a status".
    • Clearing your bio from the profile menu works (the confirmation no longer closes by itself).
    • Explore says "no public spaces" (or rooms) when that's what's missing.

    New

    • Save pictures: right-click (or long-press) an enlarged picture to save it. A person's banner and avatar on their profile, and a space's avatar in its summary, open full size. "Download" is now "Save as…".
    • Start a call in any chat from the room menu (part of the "Calls in text rooms" experiment); incoming calls there ring like other calls. The older one-to-one call is still there as "Classic call".
    • Calls across homeservers (experiment): hear people whose call runs on another server's media server.
    • Drag spaces and folders in the sidebar to reorder them on desktop (experiment, Settings › Experiments).
    • Diagnostics (only if you opted in) now count messages that couldn't be decrypted (counts only, never messages). The full list is on the privacy page.

    Install

    Linux (Flatpak, x86_64)

    flatpak install --user ./vommet-testing-x86_64.flatpak
flatpak run im.nether.chat

    Android (arm64): download vommet-testing-arm64.apk and open it. It installs as an update.

    Windows (x64): download vommet-testing-windows-x64.zip, unzip it anywhere, and run Release\vommet.exe. Not code-signed yet: SmartScreen warns the first time ("More info", then "Run anyway").

    Known limits

    • Built and tested by CI; not hand-tested yet. The Android call and screen-sharing fixes from 07f still need a real-device check.
    • GIF search returns an error until the proxy gets a Klipy key (#12).
