    Testing build. Expect rough edges. Vommet is an LLM-assisted fork of Commet. Please report problems on this repo's issue tracker, never on Commet's.

    Built from the testing branch at commit 3a70ff3. The Linux and Android files are the ones CI built and tested for this exact commit; the Windows zip was built from the same commit on GitHub's Windows runners. Settings › About shows testing-2026-10-08d.

    Fixes

    • Faster startup: Vommet no longer sometimes waits up to 30 seconds for the first sync after launching.
    • Member list: someone you're talking with no longer shows under "Offline" with a green dot.
    • Servers without presence: people show as "Unknown" (hollow dot) instead of all looking offline, until the server reports real presence.
    • Diagnostics (if you opted in) report this release's name instead of "unknown".

    New

    • Voice rooms show a small speaker badge on their avatar, so you can tell them apart even when they have their own picture.
    • Discord-style layout (experiment): the member panel gets Members, Media, Files and Pins tabs; member rows show who's in voice or sharing their screen; on phones the room's name and actions share one row.

    Install

    Linux (Flatpak, x86_64)

    flatpak install --user ./vommet-testing-x86_64.flatpak
flatpak run im.nether.chat

    Android (arm64): download vommet-testing-arm64.apk and open it. It installs as an update.

    Windows (x64): download vommet-testing-windows-x64.zip, unzip it anywhere, and run Release\vommet.exe. Not code-signed yet: SmartScreen warns the first time ("More info", then "Run anyway").

    Known limits

    • Built and tested by CI; not hand-tested yet.
    • Sliding sync (experiment): unread counts don't work yet on Synapse servers such as matrix.org. The fix is in the next build.
    • GIF search returns an error until the proxy gets a Klipy key.
