    Testing build. Expect rough edges. Vommet is an LLM-assisted fork of Commet. Please report problems on this repo's issue tracker, never on Commet's.

    Built from the testing branch at commit d2aa8d9. The Linux and Android files are the ones CI built and tested for this exact commit; the Windows zip was built from the same commit on GitHub's Windows runners. Settings › About shows testing-2026-10-08e (on Windows it shows ci/windows-testing.6 this time; same code).

    New since testing-2026-10-08d

    Notifications

    • Sliding sync on Synapse servers (like matrix.org): unread counts, unread dots and notifications now work (experiment).
    • Android, UnifiedPush: Vommet re-checks its push app and registration at every start, so setups from older versions start working again.
    • Push notifications get set up even if another app (like Element's email notifications) left an incomplete entry on your account.
    • Unread-count-only pushes no longer show up as "Unknown Notification Data".

    New

    • Android: Vommet is in the share sheet. Share pictures, files or text from other apps into any chat.
    • Forwarding works like Telegram (experiment): pick a chat, and the message waits above the composer, where you can hide the sender or the caption or change the recipient. Forwarded messages show who they came from.
    • Profiles load faster, and Vommet asks the server for them far less often.

    Install

    Linux (Flatpak, x86_64)

    flatpak install --user ./vommet-testing-x86_64.flatpak
flatpak run im.nether.chat

    Android (arm64): download vommet-testing-arm64.apk and open it. It installs as an update.

    Windows (x64): download vommet-testing-windows-x64.zip, unzip it anywhere, and run Release\vommet.exe. Not code-signed yet: SmartScreen warns the first time ("More info", then "Run anyway").

    Known limits

    • Built and tested by CI; not hand-tested yet.
