Why

Adding an existing room to a space means scrolling the full list of every room and space you are in. With a few hundred rooms that's painful.

What exists

ExistingRoomPicker (commet/lib/ui/pages/get_or_create_room/existing_room_picker.dart, ~200 lines) builds the list from all rooms and spaces and offers only a room-type filter (space / text / voice / album / calendar). There is no text search.

Plan

A search field above the type filter, focused automatically on desktop.
Match case-insensitively on display name, then canonical alias, then room id; combine with the type filter.
Sort matches with name-prefix matches first, then by recent activity.
Enter picks the top match when exactly one remains.
Reuse the same matcher anywhere else Commet shows a long room list without search, if any.

Acceptance

With hundreds of rooms, typing a few letters of a room's name shows it within the first few results, and picking it adds it to the space.

Filed with LLM assistance. This is a fork-only issue; never refile it on Commet's tracker.

Implemented on branch feat/room-picker-search (1ee85e5), CI green, not merged. Search field above the type filter (autofocused on desktop, Enter picks a single remaining match). Ranking: name prefix > word prefix > name substring > room id; ties by recent activity. Matcher in lib/utils/room_search.dart with 6 unit tests; CI now runs unit tests. Room aliases are not matched (the client's Room interface doesn't expose them). Needs a hands-on check before merging.
