    Built from the testing branch at commit 8b6878c. This is the first build since Vommet started following Commet's latest code automatically. The login screen shows the build label testing.133 · 8b6878c.

    New since testing-2026-10-05b

    • Dock and taskbar icon now shows for the Flatpak. The app used to identify itself under a development ID, so docks couldn't match its window to its icon.
    • Simpler login. On servers with single sign-on, like nether.im, the login screen shows just "Continue with …". "Sign in with a password instead" reveals the username and password fields, for bot accounts. (#44)
    • Hold-to-record voice messages keep working when the composer re-lays out. (#15)
    • Default push gateway is UnifiedPush's own instead of Commet's.
    • The latest changes from Commet itself.

    Everything from the earlier tester builds is still included: sticker import and sticker rooms (#19, #2), voice messages (#15), picture mosaics, room banners, space tools, copy selection, and the fork defaults.

    Install

    Linux (Flatpak, x86_64)

    flatpak install --user ./vommet-testing-x86_64.flatpak
flatpak run im.nether.chat

    Installing over the previous build updates it. If the dock icon still doesn't appear, log out and back in once so the dock re-reads its app list.

    Android (arm64): download vommet-testing-arm64.apk and open it. It installs as an update.

    Known limits

    • Smoke-tested only. The Flatpak installs, its libraries resolve, it registers as im.nether.chat, and it reaches the login screen.
    • GIF search returns an error until the proxy gets a Klipy key (#12).

    Built from the testing branch at commit 190631b. Settings › About and the login screen now show a build label such as testing.76 · 190631b, so you can tell builds apart.

    New since the first tester build

    • Sticker import is easy to find. There is an import button next to the Emoji/Sticker/Gif tabs in the message composer. Settings › Emoticons has labelled "Import pack" and "New pack" buttons that stay available after your first pack. (#19)
    • Choose where imported stickers go: a new pack, or "Add to" any existing pack you can edit. (#19)
    • Sticker rooms for more than one pack. A Matrix account holds one personal pack. More packs live in private sticker rooms that Vommet keeps out of your room list. They are listed under Settings › Account › Emoticons, with an Invite button for sharing packs with friends. (#19)
    • Voice messages. Hold the mic button to record, release to send, slide left to cancel. Tap it for hands-free recording. Received voice messages play with a waveform. (#15)
    • New defaults: media previews in public rooms are on, and encrypted Element Call is on.
    • No more donation prompts. They linked to Commet.

    Also included from the first build: Telegram sticker import (#2), picture mosaics (#11), room banners (#6), room search and removal for spaces (#10, #13), and desktop "Copy selection" (#9).

    The GNOME 51 runtime comes from Flathub automatically. To update, install the newer file the same way.

    Known limits of this build

    • Smoke-tested only: the Flatpak installs, all libraries resolve and it reaches the login screen. Not yet tested by a human: login, calls, notifications, screen share.
    • Flatpak updates are manual (no repository yet).
    • Not built for Windows yet.
